VMworld 2017 - Unifying Today's Workforce

Unified Endpoint Management

At this year’s VMworld, we learned that today’s office space is mobile. Smartphones are rapidly becoming the work horse of the work force, and the cloud is getting standardized with software that everyone is familiar with. And we had an early glimpse of how AirWatch will bring new organization to the growing power of the modern mobile workforce.

The most competitive talent bring their own devices when they join an organization. These changes are driving perhaps the most dramatic transformation of the workplace since Ford revolutionized manufacturing. We discussed the need to to keep the pace as IT departments are continuing to expand their capabilities driving the development of ever more platform specific silos, and as they grow- compatibility and communication become increasingly difficult.

AirWatch unified endpoint management takes aim at the siloing effect to mitigate the costs of department-function diversity by creating a uniform user-centric management approach to managing all endpoints- no matter what type of device they manifest as. AirWatch works across multiple operating systems with simplified access and management across all applications to keep your workflow consistent, and your workforce unified going forward.

Unified User Experience & Multiple Endpoint Security

We discussed the problem of cyber security and new solutions. VMworld’s unified end-user solution brings more than just uniformity to the developing diversity of the mobile workplace. As more and more technology and power find its way into the hands of the individual worker, greater security risks emerge which endanger mission critical and sensitive data.

As computer attackers gravitate toward social engineering based attacks, the workforce needs to be made aware of the threats and become trained in a way that utilized media that is broadly accessible and quickly acculturated across organizational departments. UEM technology makes it easy to disseminate security protocols, track signage for important memos, and to create an internal corporate culture of proactive security across all end-point terminals and users.

Unified processes and a uniform virtual workspace make sure everyone is speaking the same language and that every user follows similar pathways to accomplish similar tasks. To this end we’ve added new onboarding capabilities to macOS, set up auto enrollment for Windows 10, hands-free management for Dell BIOS, peer distribution for software, and added an auto update manager to Chrome OS to lower costs and boost efficiency.

We’ve had a Glimpse of the Future

AirWatch will produce a unified endpoint management experience across all major operating systems, raise the standard for rugged device management in partnership with Google.

AirWatch will simplify ID and access management with:

  • Software-as-a-Service app management
  • Single sign-on configuration
  • Microsoft Office 365 security policies
  • Data loss prevention configuration

We have also seen the many ways that artificial intelligence and automation will:

  • Transform the digital workspace
  • Retrieve insights into user experiences and security
  • Better plan mobile deployments.
  • Create powerful new automated processes for security protocols and performance
