Productivity sky-rocketing with employees working from home

Written by Bryan Afonso | 5/18/20 1:35 PM

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced those who had the ability to work from home to do so, and has led to a surprising result, improved productivity! U.S. workers were 47% more productive in March and April than in the same two months a year ago through cloud-based business tools, chat applications and email. (According to an analysis of 100 million data points from 30,000 Americans by workplace-monitoring company Prodoscore)

In an interview with Market-watch a few Silicon Valley CEO's all agree that the WFH (working from home) era has now officially arrived and is actually thriving, productivity is up a significant percent. As we enter into the phase shifting of re-opening the workforce that's been halted due to this pandemic. Business' are now having to physically re-design office layouts to comply with the new reality of social distancing protocols.

In Silicon Valley however, this may not be the case, rather than spend mass amounts of money to fully re-design buildings and office spaces, companies such as Twitter Inc. in recent days told employees have the option of NEVER coming back to the office to work. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and Space-X told his employees if they can fully do their job at home and choose to stay remote they can fully do so. While CEO's of Facebook, Google, Salesforce.com Inc.  Slack Technologies Inc. and WORK Inc. , have said they don’t expect workers back in the office until 2021 — if then.

Seeing the increase in productivity many prominent tech companies are now highly considering permanently moving a large portion of their workforce to work-from-home status.
